FIFA World Cup 2018 in Rostov-on-Don

The largest football tournament of the planet in 2018 will be hosted by Russia. The event will be held from 14 June to 15 July.

The capital of the Donskoy Kray has become one of the cities that will host the matches of the World Cup in 2018.

International airport “Platov”

For example, Rostov obtained an ultramodern international airport named “Platov” — it is the first airport in the history of modern Russia that was built from scratch. It is the largest passenger terminal in the South of the country with the acceptance rate of 1800 persons/hour, at the territory of which more than 45 aircraft can be located at the same time.

Stadium of international class “Rostov-Arena”

Rostov-Arena – a multi-functional stadium of international class that meets all FIFA and UEFA requirements became the largest object for the city constructed within the preparation program for World Cup. In fact it is the largest sports facility in Rostov-on-Don designed for 45000 spectators.

One of the peculiarities of Rostov-Arena stadium became the wonderful view creating a unique participation effect. The spectator can clearly hear the players’ voices, their faces and movements even from the last rows of upper sections. The Northern stadium stand is partially open — there the spectators can enjoy the beautiful view of the Don River and the city.

Today a large sports and entertainment cluster has already been created here, consisting of a reconstructed Rowing Canal, a modern park complex stretching over an area of 16 hectares along the central city beach. In future it is planned to build new sports facilities on the left bank, including an ice palace and a handball complex.

One of Rostov symbols – Voroshilovskiy Bridge – was reconstructed within the shortest terms due to the stadium; the project of “South approach from M-4 Don” crossroads is realized.

Both main training areas – Olymp-2 and Lokomotiv stadiums are ready for FIFA World Cup.

The city historical center is also transforming by the main sport event of the year.

Rostov is getting prepared to become the place of attraction of the tourists from all over the world. The Don Hospitality Center will be working all days during World Cup 2018 in Rostov.

Development of transport infrastructure in Rostov-on-Don

City public transportation, which will carry the citizens and the guests of the city, is changing drastically. In 2017 Rostov completely renewed the tram and bus fleet. Moreover, a new electrobus will start going along the streets of Rostov, after FIFA World Cup it is planned to purchase the trolleybuses.
